Following the success of our third annual Signs of the times competition, Cumbria Tourism is the latest to jump on the silly signs bandwagon.
Their set of pictures, called "Signs of adventure in the Lakes", inspired by Times Online's annual competition, features some wonderfully inventive signs to promote activities and sights in the region.
We like it and below left you can see a gallery of ten of their best efforts.
Ellis Butcher, spokesman for the organisation, said: "We are a popular place to visit and signs do stick in people's minds. We wanted ours to make people think about what they can do instead of focusing on what they can't.
"We also wanted to put a smile on their faces just like your Signs of the times feature.
"We're hoping to get them on display in an outdoors exhibition here in the Lake District probably a forest like Grizedale, or even have them as a transient exhibition where they suddenly appear - a rural version of Banksy's drawings!"
It takes about seven hours to walk up Scafell. Ellis and the team lugged their signs all the way to the top and around the other destinations. That's dedication.
To enter our Signs of the times 2009 competition send your best shots to sillysigns@timesonline.co.uk.
The competition closes on Sunday, so you'd better get cracking. Readers will be able to vote for their favourites from next Monday. The five most popular entrants win copies of Bradt's Weird World book.
