Andy Roddick 7 Andy Murray 6 (third set), Roddick leads 2-1 (6-4, 4-6, 7-6,
7-6)
Earlier result: Roger Federer beat Tommy Haas, 7-6, 7-5, 6-3
6.43pm: Roddick 7 Murray 6 Murray makes a good start, holding his serve. 1-0. Roddick booms a big one down, Murray challenges but it was easily in. 1-1. Another cracker makes it 2-1 Roddick. Oops - Murray nets on his own serve after a rally for the mini-break. 3-1, Roddick. Oh how Murray needed that - a game of cat-and-mouse on his own serve forces an error from Roddick on the 15th stroke. 3-2. Big serve from the American. 4-2. Crikey, another massive first serve. 5-2, Roddick. Murray just about holds for 5-3 after another lengthy rally. How are your nerves? Mine are frayed. Imagine what theirs are like. Another brilliant, fantastic rally. Murray somehow finds an impossible cross-court pass that lands on the line. 5-4. Murray floats one wide and challenges in desperation. It's closer than first thought but still out. 6-4, Roddick. Match point. OH MY GOD! What a pass by Murray as Roddick raced to the net. This boy has guts. Long, strong guts. 6-5. But that's it - a long rally ends with Murray netting. And the American goes through to the final.
6.35pm: Roddick 6 Murray 6 Roddick does what he has to do to force the tie-break. Fingernails at the ready ...
6.31pm: Roddick 5 Murray 6 Murray must hold. Roddick can't handle his first serve on the first point, 15-0. Another good serve goes in, 3-0. And another, 40-0. But then a weak second serve which Roddick pounces on, 40-15. A tired looking swish on his forehand goes wide from Murray to bring it back to 40-30. But a huge, read HUGE, serve gives Murray the game.
6.28pm: Roddick 5 Murray 5 Murray is getting so frustrated now. He berates himself for going short on his returns. Roddick's statistics read 75 per cent first serves in. Amazing. He holds to love.
6.25pm: Roddick 4 Murray 5 No problem holding there. But he needs a break, he desperately needs a break. This is the ideal time to get it.
6.23pm: Roddick 4 Murray 4 There's no stopping Roddick. His serve is relentless (that's what Boris Becker thinks, anyway). But after two titanic serves, Murray gets it back to 30-all. A slight glimmer, perhaps? A shard of light now - Murray forces an error at the net to earn break point ... first serve goes long ... Murray pounces on the second serve but Roddick kills a backhand to get back to deuce. A fantastic rally with Murray rescuing what looked a lost cause out wide ends with the American volleying into the empty court. Roddick then holds.
6.18pm: Roddick 3 Murray 4 Now we're nearing crunch time. Murray must hold and find a break from somewhere. He looks jaded but a trademark drop shot secures the game to love.
6.16pm: Roddick 3 Murray 3 Hello, what's this? Hawk-Eye's going bonkers as Murray demands a challenge. The umpire steps in to confirm his shot was out. A briliant return from a wide serve brings Murray back to 40-30 and it's deuce when Roddick goes long. A fantastic rally ends with a beautiful volley at the net from Roddick. Murray slams the net in frustration. And Roddick takes the game on the next point.
6.12pm: The long shadows draw in as the sun begins to go down.
6.10pm: Roddick 2 Murray 3 Is the pressure getting to Murray? A fifth double fault of the match would suggest so. As he cracks another one off the frame high and wide, Murray's shoulders slump. But then a huge serve gives him advantage and a long rally, which ends with Roddick netting, secures the game.
6.03pm: Roddick 2 Murray 2 Murray had his chances in this game. He led 15-0, then should have passed Roddick at 15-15 only to net. Roddick served it out to an anguished yelp from Murray.
