matches get under way. Cricket, Sussex v Lancashire, Sky Sports 1, 11am
The more he is ignored by the England selectors, the better Sussex’s Matt
Prior seems to perform. Lancashire have been warned.
TUESDAY
Rugby league, Sky Sports 1, 8pm Wakefield Trinity Wildcats host
Catalans Dragons with revenge on their minds following a 28-20 loss in
France earlier this year.
Greyhound racing, Sky Sports 3, 7.30pm Live coverage of the Cock O’ the North final from Belle Vue racetrack, run over the marathon distance of 670m. Hope the hare’s up to it.
WEDNESDAY
Darts, Sky Sports 1, 7pm The world’s most unfit sportsmen pray for
efficient air-conditioning at the Las Vegas Desert Classic.
Horseracing, Sky Sports 2, 7pm Live coverage of the evening meetings from Chepstow and Leopardstown. Rugby league, State of Origin, Setanta Sports 2, 10.30am Plenty of crash, bang, wallop from Down Under as New South Wales take on Queensland in the deciding third and final State of Origin match from Sydney. Not for the fainthearted.
THURSDAY
Golf, European Open first round, Sky Sports 1, 10am Colin Montgomerie
won his 31st Tour title at this event last year, ending a dire 19-month
drought for the Scot, who needs more of the same here to help his claim for
a Ryder Cup berth. Cricket, Asia Cup, Setanta Sports 1, 10.50am
Live one-day action featuring the likes of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and
that sleeping cricketing giant – United Arab Emirates.
FRIDAY
Rugby league, Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos, Sky Sports 1, 7.30pm,
kick-off 8pm Super League action from the JJB stadium. Boxing, Sky
Sports 1, 10pm David Barnes puts his British light-welterweight crown on
the line against Motherwell’s Barry Morrison at the Everton Sports Centre in
Liverpool. Cricket, Sky Sports 2, 8pm One-day action from St Kitts
as West Indies take on Australia in the fourth match of the five-game
series.
SATURDAY
Rugby union, New Zealand v South Africa, Sky Sports 1, 8am, kick-off 8.35am
South Africa travel to Wellington for the opening TriNations game as world
champions, but the All Blacks will be full of confidence after outclassing
England in this month’s two-Test series. Cycling, Tour de France,
British Eurosport, 11.15am For the first time in more than 40 years, the
Tour de France begins with a conventional stage rather than a time trial,
which means the field of almost 200 will all have the Holy Grail of the
opening-day Yellow Jersey on their minds. British Grand Prix
qualifying, ITV1, midday Lewis Hamilton aims to bounce back after two
disappointing races in France and Canada.
