The first of a many full backs on this list but McNab is probably the only one with a daughter called Mercedes, who has starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and appeared in Playboy. Good job he was a decent player.

49 Fredrik Ljungberg

1998-2007, 328 appearances, 72 goals

It's harsh when a player gets criticised for running around too much, but that was the fate for Freddie - in a team full of artists he was the artisan, bundles of energy but lacking the style of Vieira, Pires, Henry and Bergkamp. Sadly for his detractors he also had a knack of scoring vital goals, including in back-to-back FA Cup finals.

48 Cesc Fàbregas

Youngest player, youngest goalscorer, youngest star to have a mullet (probably) - there is so much more to come from the brilliant Spaniard if he decides to stick around... Became a legend from the word go. In just his second game (at the age of 16) he went toe to toe with renowned hardmen Alex Rae and Paul Ince and helped Arsenal to beat Wolves 5-1.

47 Martin Keown

1984-86 and 1993-2004, 449 appearances, 8 goals

Never go back they say, but Martin Keown did. Never play Keown in central midfield in a European final would be as apt a saying, but Stewart Houston did - in 1995. Keown fared rather better at centre half, though he was often in the shadows of Tony Adams, Steve Bould and later Sol Campbell. He endeared himself more to the Highbury faithful, thanks to an ability to wind-up opposition fans and players that is hard to match.
