Gary was stunt co-ordinator for Casino Royale (Dinny’s last, at 73) and Quantum of Solace, just released on Blu-ray DVD. Now his name appears on the title credits, but the Powells remain down-to-earth about their work.

As they head towards five decades in the Bond business, it looks as if the Powells will be doing stunts for years to come. Tilly, Greg’s 17-year-old daughter, is to become a stuntwoman. And Gary’s girlfriend, Nikki Berwick, 30, did stunts for Olga Kurylenko, the latest Bond girl. “After all these years, it’s a family affair,” says Greg.

The Bonds Dinny stood in for Sean Connery and Roger Moore and worked on films starring Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig

Stunts Dinny had some scary experiences while filming Diamonds Are Forever in 1971, when he almost slipped while climbing in a cave, and also had to perform a stunt in a tunnel with running water. During his career, he has broken his leg and collarbone and had a hip replacement. His hearing has been damaged by the noise of guns and explosions
