6-7, Totally Tomato Show, West Dean College near Chichester, Sussex www.westdean.org.uk A walled kitchen garden and Victorian glasshouses are home to more than 150 different varieties of tomato to feast your eyes on. There will also be demonstrations, tips, techniques and produce to buy.

12-14, Berwick Food Festival, Berwick-upon-Tweed www.slowfoodberwick.org.uk Organised by Berwick's Slow Food Convivium to celebrate the rich food heritage of the town, the festival showcases local producers, has cookery demonstrations, a quayside fish market and a traditional hog roast.

12-14, Ludlow Marches Food & Drink Festival www.foodfestival.co.uk Competitions including the Pork Pie of the Marches, as well as the annual sausage trail, are highlights of this festival. Ludlow's twin towns in France and Italy will also be displaying produce from their regions.

19-28, York Festival of Food and Drink www.yorkfestivaloffoodanddrink.com
Highlights include a Yorkshire produce market, with foodie treats ranging from rare-breed meats to local clotted cream, as well as beer and whisky festivals. Celebrity chefs will give cookery demonstrations and there will be a young chefs’ competition.
