FIFTEEN - Watergate Bay, Cornwall
Why go there: Super chef Jamie Oliver's Cornish outpost has garnered shed loads of awards. The restaurant's hip decor includes sculptural pendant lights and graffiti-style wall art. But it's the awesome view over Watergate Bay and the watch-while-you-dine surfing that make it so inviting.
What to eat: taglierini with Cornish crab, lemon, parsely and rock samphire; local cheeses with homemade bread and olives; potato gnocchi with Angus beef ragu and horseradish; chocolate and ricotta tart with poached pear.

ST. MORITZ HOTEL RESTAURANT - near Padstow, Cornwall
Why go there: Head chef Elliot Ketley brings some of the panache of his former workplaces - New york's Soho House and The Ivy in West Los Angeles - to a predominantly Cornish menu at this stylish Thirties' throwback of a hotel with a splendid north coast outlook. Shame the restaurant isn't slightly better positioned, though.
What to eat: cucumber soup with salmon and yoghurt; cornish scallops; warm saffron cake

THE TATE ST. IVES CAFE - Cornwall
Why go there: This minimalist Lovely lofty views over the usually teeming old town and Porthmeor Beach await a hungry soul after an afternoon of gallery gazing. The cafe also strives to source all ingredients from local growers and suppliers, from Cornish Yarg cheese to hand-grabbed crab from Newlyn.
What to eat: courgette and minted pea soup; Tregannou Farm asparagus salad with broad bean, peas, red onions and Nantarrow cheese; Cornubia Farm free-range egg and watercress sandwiches.
